What are your plans for Mother's Day?

Tomorrow in the US (May 9th) will be Mother's Day. Is anyone else not in the US celebrating Mother's Day tomorrow? Not sure what we are going to do yet. I wanted my parents and my in-laws to celebrate it together but not sure that will happen. My mother told me that she doesn't want to go out to eat as it will be crowded. She doesn't want people over her house and she is not really comfortable with coming over my house because of hubby's parents and brother because of this covid thing. I am sure none of them have it but my mom wants to be safe. If we end up doing the celebration at our house, which hubby seemed to wanna do, and my parents end up coming over, my mom told me they will sit with everyone at the table (wearing a mask) and then when it's time to eat she and my dad will eat on the couch away from everyone. I am not a fan of that. I don't want them having to eat on the couch with a plate on their lap. Them eating on the couch would mean being away from the table for a long time. And I don't want that to happen. I want my parents to enjoy themselves and I doubt that will happen in these circumstances. Plus, all this will make me uncomfortable. I'd rather my parents not come over tomorrow. Instead, hubby and I can just meet up with them on a different day to celebrate.

Yes. I agree with your mother. It is better to be safe than sorry. Your idea is good. You can just meet them up on a different day

To each their own. My husband has to work, so I'll spend Mother's day at home. Probably sleeping in.

Good idea. Nobody forces you to celebrate in this silly way with people sitting on a sofa holding their plates.

I wouldn't want her sitting by herself on the couch trying to eat. That wouldn't be right. And I'd feel bad. I will try to set something up for next weekend maybe.

Maybe celebrating on a different day at a restaurant is a better idea. We aren't celebrating. We no longer have fur babies; so I'm no longer a mom. :-)

I went to my mom's house to surprise her with flowers and a pastry. She wasn't home. Good thing I had keys to their house and could drop the stuff off.

@LindaOHio She apologized. Said they went for a walk. Asked why I didn't tell her I was coming. I told her I wanted it to be a surprise. She liked the flowers and the pastry.

@lovebuglena She will be so surprised to find her gifts; but it's a shame that she wasn't home.

What a mess, huh? Our daughter and her family planned to come for the weekend, but she's sick. So just our son and grandson are coming.
