This is our hydroponics set up. We use pipes and styrofoam boxes. Those on the pipes are growing slow I wonder why. Those on styro boxes looks like pechay to me. We harvest some of our lettuce and it taste bitter. This is just a portion of our hydroponics set up. It's an expensive hobby and we still don't know if the lettuce will be very healthy

Without correct nutrients lettuce tastes bitter. Lettuce is a plant that likes cooler weather, if it is too hot where you grow the lettuce it will always taste bitter.

My father may forget about the weather. He was just inspired to see in YouTube that others grow lettuce easily

@averygirl72 Lettuce is easy to grow, but there are things to keep in mind when growing lettuce.

Did you make this set-up yourself? Been planning to do this but haven't got the time to do it yet.

Nice maybe you should consider selling them when you harvest them to at least defray the cost of maintaining it. I know it is quite a skill doing it since you are using only water and chemicals to feed them and no soil is used there.

@averygirl72 If you are into that maybe try something about aquaponics where you also have fish as the source of nutrients of the plants instead of using the chemicals. I think it is similar to Hydroponics except that you used the fish waste to feed your plants.

I'm not sure if my father is getting it right. But we should not give up in case it didn't work perfectly. We use cocopeat and foam instead of soil. Hope we get it right after many tries and soon earn good money from them

Hope it works well for you. I tried some plants in water last year and decided it was too much work.
