I reluctantly retired my old smartphone last week, do you keep old phones?

So, I was keeping my old smartphone around because it had apps I liked on it, and they didn't transfer over when I got my new phone. Plus I tend to use a lot of apps so having them on two phones worked for me. However, the old phone got to the point where it was not charging, so it has been retired. If I could turn it on, I would factory reset it and donate or sell it. I wouldn't want to do that know with the personal info on it. Do you ever keep an old phone around even after you get a new one? I have to say my new phone is not that new...I will probably be getting another in a few months. What do you do with your old phones?

I don't retire my phone unless it stops working and demands high maintenance cost. If it has minor issues I buy a new phone and give the old one to the kids after getting it repaired.

I don't have any kids I could give it to. I could maybe let my roomate use it, but he doesn't like smartphones.

I would retire my old phone, but would still keep it despite not using it. I prefer not to let anyone discover any data in it no matter what.

That's right .if you can't do a data wipe definitely smarter to keep it.

I keep mine. They don't take up much room and someday they'll be worth a fortune. A lot of computers from the 70's are worth thousands today. That's only 50 years and if phones do the same thing, I only have to live to be about 105 to cash in.

@m_audrey6788 I have a few old phones over there. I can't turn them on. I guess I might just end up tossing them, or maybe I will try to recycle one. I am afraid to though because there is data on there. It probably wouldn't be smart. I will have to ask about that sometime at a cellphone store. I don't know how you do a cellphone wipe without turning them on.
