Vacc is scheduled

Got my email today to schedule my vaccination. My husband didn't get one. He is an essential worker (manufacturer, beginning process for making syringes). He is six months younger than me. We are currently the same age. But, I have fibromyalgia which is partially an autoimmune illness so I guess that's why I got the email first. I booked it but I'm scared half to death. So many people have complained of side effects. And even if the worst I feel is a sore arm, I already have really sore shoulders as osteo-arthritis is setting in. My daughters think it's all a joke so they aren't going to get the vaccination. I want to be able to go back to the tropics as soon as possible. That's really the only reason I'm getting it. I'd rather wear a mask for the rest of my life. That's what's going on here.

Have you had two doses? I hear the second dose is worse but still a lot of side effects with the first.

Hope there are no adverse effects. I would want to get vaccinated but not by the brands from China. So far, that is all we have because of the corruption in our government. So, I'm waiting my turn. Another reason, even if there were vaccines from other manufacturers, I'd still wait my turn because there are others more deserving to get the vaccine shot ahead of me.

The one vaccine (astrazeneca ?) is on hold in our province right now due to the blood clot issues. Our area has been getting the pfizer vaccine. I have an auto immune illness which qualifies me for getting the vaccine. A good portion of our region have been vaccinated and they are moving down the list of ages.

@patgalca good to know. We have the Chinese brands mostly but no one wants to be vaccinated with it. There are some Astra Zeneca vaccines and even with the blood clot issues, most people I know prefer to have it. Problem is, the vaccination roll-out is so slow that most of the vaccines that we have on stock will likely expire. Such is the inefficiency of this government. There have been calls made to turnover all the vaccines to the private sector and let the private companies handle this but the government isn't hearing any of it.

I have Fibro, and Diabetes. I am an essential worker and I am over 65.Neither my diabetes or fibro were affected by the vaccine. My arthritis is flaring. Got a lot of stress happening. I have found a 'gel' on recommendation by my foot doctor and confirmation of my primary that is helpful. It is over-the-counter. Brand name is Voltaren Gel, active ingredient is diclenofac. It is an NSAID that I could not handle orally but can use topically just fine.

Is that an anti-inflammatory? I could use the gel but not the oral as I have Stage 3 STABLE kidney disease.

Drink lots of water before and after the shot. That's what someone I know was told by a nurse. I mean, a lot of water. I'm willing to try that when I get mine. It may not work, but it couldn't hurt.

Oh yes, I forgot about that... lots of water and Tylenol before getting the shot. Gotta remember that.

Best of luck to you and I am sure everything will turn out just fine, They have lots of information online about what to do for any minor side effects but I am sure you will find that there really is nothing to worry about, I have chosen not to get the vacs but then I am not planning on going anywhere,

I have to get to the tropics. My fibromyalgia eases considerably when I am down there. I was fortunate to go twice just before the world lockdown (December 2019 and late February/early March 2020.) I really need a dose of warm sunshine and salty air.
