Day 281 Promise 750 Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things say he who hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that you hast a name that you live, and art dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore, thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. 4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. 6 He who hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches. How do people perceive you? As good, or someone to stay away from? Jesus told John to write to Sardis. He didn’t have much good to write to them. Their church was almost dead. Only a few people kept their faith and walked with God. He told them to repent and return to Him. If they didn’t, He would blot their name out of the book of life. As Christians, many people believe once saved, always saved. That’s not what Jesus told the people of Sardis. He told them they could lose their salvation. If they didn’t repent, He would blot their name out of the book of life. You don’t want that to happen. Jesus told the church of Sardis that those who remained faithful would be dressed in white. You know those dressed in white are clothed in righteousness. Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (KJV) Are you dressed in white or in the clothes of the world? What is important to you? Joshua gave the people of Israel a choice when they crossed into the Promised Land. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. From the beginning, Satan has worked in the world to tear people away from God. He started in the Garden of Eden when there were only two people. His campaign continued through the Old Testament. He didn’t pass up an opportunity to turn God’s people away from Him. Since Jesus’ death and resurrection, He continued his campaign against the saints. His mission is to kill, steal, and destroy your faith in Jesus Christ. Don’t let him. The rewards for faithfulness to Jesus Christ far outweigh anything he could offer you. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Everyone wants an abundant life. Don’t sacrifice your faith in Jesus for the world. It isn’t worth it. You could lose your salvation. Let’s pray: Father, help me stand strong against Satan’s temptations. Let me turn a deaf ear and blind eye to his schemes. Shelter me under Your wings, and keep me on the path of life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
