Pandemic Effects on our Lifestyle

Though some countries are leaving this pandemic behind, there are many who are still under its thumb. This is because too few have been vaccinated. It is said around 50% is the ballpark figure to aim for to get a grip on this unwelcome visitor that has enslaved us and turned our lifestyle topsy-turvy. I have observed a few drastic changes in our lifestyle. 1. Most can work from home especially the white collared among us. 2. Students can learn online though it is not ideal without interaction at schools. 3. Some jobs have taken a beating like airline and travel industries while there are sunrise sectors like online shopping and logistics. Then we have sort of collateral issues and reality checks for a few. 1. The whole family is at home all the time. 2. In some countries, it is the norm for most to have outside help to do even jobs that one can do themselves like cooking, cleaning, other chores. I have seen even the not so rich having many to cook, clean, run errands and what not with one for each child, even when they become teenagers! That could be quite revolting but has been a fact of life. Some have got infected without even stepping out of their homes but when outside help, or to call a spade a spade, domestic servants come calling every day, they could as well come not empty handed! The jury is still out with the pandemic waning and waxing. It has given us a new perspective on our lives. On the positive side is our will to survive at all costs and on the negative side, it has not made a dent on our innate and time immemorial warring and divisive nature. Then there are among us the angels who risk their lives so that others may live! Yes, it takes all sorts to make a world. And life goes on with warts and all. This pandemic has altered in my household..not a lot. We always keep to ourselves..it is circumstances. My livelihood is unaffected by it as all that was already behind me.

I came to India to look after my mother and then the pandemic took hold. My mother passed away a year ago, but I am not able to return to Singapore due to various restrictions and risks while on flight. So it has been uncertain times for me.

@RebeccasFarm Thanks Ocean Tiara. I did mention by way of comments/responses but I did not write a discussion on that. I have to asap as I am a resident there and have an apartment too. But there are no scheduled flights for now.

My lifestyle has changed, but I found other things to take its place. Staying safe was my main goal.

We should adapt to stay on top of any crisis. When it is behind us, we walk with a spring in our step though a bit mellowed with the experience.

I've been trying really hard to ensure Mom stays at home. But she's more rebellious than I am.

It is better for her to be patient for a while as it looks like it spreads faster through the air.

Absolutely the life style has changed. Kids have not seen their school from last year. We live in uncertainty as we don't know when our job will be gone. Prices of the things are going up. Life has been lots of struggles from last year.

I am now retired but forced to stay at home - not an ideal retirement. I am happy that I don't work now with all the disruptions around.

That is nice to hear, This looks to be not a natural virus, sort of got out of control due to someone's evil pursuit.
