Fight against Media induced panic and hysteria - graver than the Fight against Covid 19

I would start with a short imaginary story. Once a young boy of age 17 went to a doctor to get bleeding stopped and get some ointment after hurting his knee. He was in pain but not terribly. At doctor's clinic, he accidentally meets one of his aunts. The aunt begins shouting "OMG!! You are bleeding! You must be in a lot of pain! Get ointment and injection quickly. I am so worried about you! " The boy does gets injections and ointments but somehow he is in more pain now and remains worried for 2 days, until his wounds heals a lot. Now the fight against Covid in India is quite grim and the 2nd wave has had devastating effects. The whole medical system has been fighting and people and Government are under high stress. Yet a lot of media- news, print and social has been circulating so much of information- half baked and half or un-verified ones. Many people keep on glued to all such news. I know someone in relation who is getting over-stressed listening to various such depressing news from day to night on the news channels. That person is not Tech savy and somehow accepts all those news as true! This fight against misinformation and panic creating news is much more graver than fighting the actual virus and its effects.

I think social media is not the right thing to have some essential information nowadays.

@Shavkat Media in different forms should share essential and guiding information, not create fear and panic.

@DianneN They do share the truth at times but many of the things are distorted too.

That`s the reason why I don`t like watching news anymore but still wants to know what is happening around us.

@m_audrey6788 There are good news and there are bad. Yet if someone just highlights negative news in an excessive way, it can mislead and also create fear and/or panic among people.

This is the time where people should unite and help each other. The media included.

@prinzcy Most of the people and even some part of media is helping each other and results are good. Yet there are a lot of negativity causing elements around.

The media seem to like to create panic instead of keeping people calm, it is crazy.

@LadyDuck When people are already facing multiple challenges and are so uneasy, efforts should be to soothe and calm. Yet a lot of opposites are happening. It needs a strong mind to look through the maze of information and be level headed.
