Too generous, end up nothing at her hand...

May 28, 2021 8:57am CST
As the saying goes, "you do not have to be rich to be generous". But, what if, there is really nothing left at your hand, and yet you still lend even the single penny that you have save. I've known a person who is generous but she always end up broke. As a result, she always borrows money from people around her including me. And in this regard, I always advice and tell her, indeed being generous is good but if you don't have the money, you can say no. And saying no doesn't mean you don't want to help, its just, helping is not always about giving money. That, whenever I say all these, she always tell me, "yes I know, yes I know". Somehow, I really feel sad whenever I saw her having nothing at her hand. But it seems like she doesn't listening as she kept ignoring me whenever I am reminder her and giving her an advice.

The generosity of that lady is appreciable. A true generous person is the one who gives last penny he has got and do not mention about it to anyone.

Indeed, her generosity is really great. A thumbs up for the good work. How about if she has nothing left on her hand, that whenever she feels like crying, I really feel sad as well.

@jiangjuno God takes care of such people. They don't have much ambitions.

@msdivkar - well, you have a point. God sees every good deeds that we do. And as one of the good bible verse says, "He will crown our efforts with success".

She needs too use wisdom when it comes to money and giving is not always about giving money. and she needs to know the power of saying no. or else people will continue too drain her resources and you all need to stop giving her money because that will drain your resources too.

Honestly, I pity her at one point, because during the time when she was earning a lot, she always give some to her older brother. But when the wheel turn around, wherein, she was not working anymore and her older brother who has the work now, her brother always question her, what happened to the money he has given. I really want to help this friend and I have teach her all the process I know but, she refuse to listen at times.

Generosity comes in many forms not only about money.

Generosity is a laudable quality, but if it isn't combined with intelligence, it isn't worth much. This woman clearly lacks intelligence.

@jiangjuno You can help her by showing her how to keep track of her money.. She must write down the amount of money she has for one month. Then she must write down the amount of money she *always* has to pay like rent, electricity, gas, insurance, subscriptions, etc. The rest is the amount she can spend. Shouldn't be too difficult. When she's done this for, say, half a year, she should have learnt something.

Make sure you also don't listen to her next time when she wants to borrow money from you.
