From one extreme to another!

At the start of April we had lovely warm spring weather. But then it suddenly turned chilly with really cold winds, and that lasted until the start of this week - days were really cool, if not outright cold, with a chill wind. I had some vegetable seedlings growing up in the greenhouse but didn’t dare plant any of the less hardy types, such as runner beans or squash, outside because of the cold nights. Then a couple of days ago it suddenly warmed up and yesterday was positively hot! Now my young plants are in danger of being fried in the greenhouse and it’s a rush to get them outside! A lot of us had the roller coaster weather. I hope your plants survive.

Won't outside be hotter than in the greenhouse?

No, not here. It's not that hot outside (max 20C) but as soon as the sun shines the greenhouse heats up very fast.

I totally understand. We keep taking our seedlings in and out of the house, trying to give them early sun but avoid the chilly night air. The tomato plants we put out are struggling so we're scared to put anything else into the ground. Now, this week is all thunderstorms and flooding streets and yards. *shake my head* Pretty and I went to run errands yesterday and had to keep turning around trying to find streets we could us without getting washed away into the deep culverts of water. *sigh*

It's certainly making us run about isn't it? Sorry to hear about all the flooding.

@Fleura The weather is being very odd this year. I wish it would quit. My seedlings think I'm just teasing them with all the in and out of the house we're doing.

@DaddyEvil It is, although I'm not sure it's a lot more odd than usual.

I understand what you mean. We've been hoping for rain here in Florida, but we're getting hot humid air. More cloud cover, but still not enough moisture to produce a decent rain storm. Yet it seemed to rain every night not two weeks ago. Mother nature seriously needs to make up her mind.

We seem to have been having 'April showers' in May this month.
