Day 294
Promise 764
Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walks naked, and they see his shame.
Thieves use stealth. They steal when no one pays attention. Their actions are done in broad daylight or the dead of night. People need to be aware of their surroundings. They need to be people of integrity or everyone will know the type of person they are.
Jesus told John He will come like a thief when no one is looking for Him. He said people need to watch, pay attention, walk with integrity. People would see the shame of those who didn’t keep themselves blameless.
As Christians, you know you need to watch, pray, read and study your Bible. When you do, Jesus’ return won’t be seen as a thief in the night but anticipated.
Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore, be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man comes.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.
Paul in his letter to the Corinthians told them how they needed to clothe themselves.
2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so, be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore, we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
When you clothe yourself with the Word of God, you will never be found naked. You will never be put to shame.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word be my clothing. Help me be ever watchful, waiting for Your Son’s return. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
