Cycling in Kew Gardens

On Wednesday, my Brompton the folding bike, and I took the train and Tube to the Royal Horticultural Gardens, Kew Gardens, in west London. The trains were mostly empty, which is more than I can say for the pubs and cafes between Kew Station and Elizabeth Gate of Kew. I guess for some people enjoyment comes first! Cycling Kew is part of a monthly event they have started to hold and I have to say it is one of the most relaxing and tranquil rides I have had. Despite there being a lot of people on bikes, I was frequently all alone as I slowly pedaled around. The only drawback was that the glasshouses and other exhibitions were not open. By the time I got back home, I didn't fancy doing any cooking and for the first time since 2005 I had a KFC. Have to say it was very enjoyable, if a somewhat guilty pleasure!

I visited several times the Kew Gardens and I always loved. I hope that the glasshouses and the rest of exhibitions will open back soon. You came back home exhausted I believe.

@Ronrybs I am sure you were exhausted, but it was a great event, you must be proud that you have participated.

Pretty sure the greenhouses were only closed for the cycling event, which makes sense. I was fairly well ready to collapse into bed by the time I got home

I haven’t had KFC in a good many years. Have you had chicken from Popeye’s ?

Can't say I have ever seen a Popeye's here, but I don't look to closely at the name of fast food places.

There was a bit of weightlifting as well when I had to cart the bike between platforms, so up and down several sets of stairs.

It was a very nice ride, just a bit tight for time and I wasn't too sure on the train times. Still, I think I shall have to go again!

I didn't know you could cycle in Kew, how long have they been doing that? I had some friends who used to live in a cottage just outside the gates - one of the old gardeners' cottages. That was very handy when they had evening concerts!

Not sure how long it has been going on, but it was a good evening. Have to say I like that part of the world and if I had a stray million or three, I'd live there!

They are quite common and popular. There are lots of chicken chains and I am sure I have seen a Popeye's

@Ronrybs Oh wow, I just tried Popeye's for the first time. Verdict: chicken and biscuits = good. Mashed potatoes , gravy, and Mac n Cheese = yuck

Well, me and a few tens of other people on bikes. No idea how many attended, but it was a very relaxing experience
