Along with Abba, I’m counting down favorites by the great Neil Young. As I’ve mentioned, there are a LOT of incarnations of Young’s career, and today’s tune comes from yet another one of those. Here’s today’s song. #3: Long May You Run Mort! Yes, this song is, in part, about Mort. “Mort” was Neil Young’s first car, a 1948 Buick Roadmaster. It conked out on him in 1965. Of course, he also said a former girlfriend added inspiration to this. But the car references are unmistakable. I’ll dedicate this today to the memory of JJ’s father. Mr. Ratcliffe didn’t care for Neil Young, but that’s okay. Long may his memory run.
