What time is it?

My clock radio said it was 8:03. My stove said it ws 8:02, and the microwave first read 8:01 but quickly changed to 8:02. The thermostat thought it was 6:58 (haven't been able to change its mind for years). My Caprice wristwatch thought it was 8:10 and my Persona wristwatch said it was 2:05 yesterday at 11... The wall clock just outside the dining room said it was 8:10 and my computer said it was 8:09, while the pendulum clock in the living room retired years ago. I forgot to consult the talking clock and who knows where the little cuckoo clock is hiding. And my grandmother's gold wristwatch is quietly sleeping in my dresser. I used to bring her out for family functions, and she'd try keeping time for an hour or two, then slowly go to sleep again. (Hey, she's over 100 years old!) My liquid gold crystal Seiko wristwatch is lurking somewhere... I decided to not replace its battery when my eyes couldn't read the numbers. Too bad, it also would tell the date, beep on the hour, and had a timer. The clock in one of my paintings is permanently convinced it's VII:VI... But I know what time it isn't -- twenty-five or -six to four.

This reminds me that the battery in my wrist watch stopped working a couple of nights ago.

@Juliaacv But if you keep buying cheap watches every couple years, you'll soon have spent as much as you would on a higher end watch, but still only have a cheap watch that probably would need replacing soon enough.

Guess we both better get out the tweezers and replacement batteries.

@BarBaraPrz I wear a cheap watch, so will get out and replace it. They last about 18 months, and the the battery and the band go, so no big deal.

If you carefully compare all the clocks and watches you have, it's obvious that it's actually two weeks ago at your house. Wow! Just think, you can find out all the interesting things happening in the world two weeks before they happen! Next time there's a toilet paper shortage, you can buy everyone o myLot enough TP to last them through the crisis!

Or maybe it's time to get dressed and have breakfast.

Oh my goodness why so many different times? I set all of ours by my cell phone. As a teen the clocks were all diff times in my parents house it drove me nuts. 10 or more minutes off is too much!

They all seem to have they're own sense of how long a minute is, or something, because I really do try to sync them up any time the power goes out.

Time for you to sync your clocks or at least the clocks in your appliances.

I try, believe me, but it never seems to work out. And as I said, I can't seem to change the time on the thermostat. It has a mind of its own, took about a year or so before it kept resetting the temp to 70°F -- it doesn't do Celsius.

@allen0187 But then I'd have to get one of those "smart" ones that require a cell phone to interact with, and I don't have one of those, either.

@BarBaraPrz your thermostat is possessed. Best to have it exorcised.

That's the problem with modern clocks, including sundials, which are right only twice a year. I am working on an hourglass with a presence sensor activating a robot that will turn the hourglass every hour and put a line on a chalkboard. Counting the lines will give you the right hour. The sensor and robot will be connected to a solar panel on the roof, and the sand will be certified sustainable. Book yours today !
