First time to returned a product

I have drop off that laptop charger that didn't work. Luckily, it was free and got back to the seller within a few days.
Before I just request a refund and gives it automatically. I had share of broken package but never oblige myself to return product to the seller.
Anyways, I'm careful now what to buy online
