My first Ruby Spider Day Lily (Hemerocallis) bloomed today in the front garden. So happy to see these huge blooms, the size of my hands actually.
The butterflies and hummingbirds will love the nectar on these blooms. Seeing these always let me know the butterflies will be here soon.
And as the name says, they are day lilies. One new bloom every day. They bloom from June all the way through September. And they are perennials. I cut them back when the blooms stop. They return the next year.
Snapped this photo just now in the bright sunshine.
