The coconut milk makes the smoothie different

I've written before about the Daily Harvest frozen smoothies that I like to have for breakfast. They contain strawberries, raspberries, peaches, bananas, goji berries, oats, and flax seeds. You just add some type of milk and blend. Couldn't be easier!
I've made them with skim milk in the past but I don't have any on hand. I do have unsweetened coconut milk so that is what I used. I noticed that the smoothie looked a little darker and thinner as it was whizzing around in the blender.
I was surprised that the flavor of the smoothie was a bit different from what I have been used to. It doesn't taste as sweet. I don't know if that is due to the strawberries or peaches not being as sweet as usual or if it is caused by the coconut milk or some combination of both. It isn't bad. It is just a little different.
The calorie content of the fruit is 140 and then I added the coconut milk. I estimate that I'm drinking 200 calories of deliciousness.

But... coconut milk is not milk.
Sorry, recently I had to study "commodities" for an exam and that was the first thought I had in mind.
I never drank coconut drink but definitely had smoothies. They're indeed delicious!
Real milk is sweet, definitely. I don't know if it's sweeter than coconut blood, but still...

I'd definitely prefer the thicker shake, made with the skim milk. I try to add lo-fat milk in my daily food consumption, because I don't drink it, otherwise.

@NJChicaa I use fat free canned milk in my coffee. This way, I get milk without actually drinking it in a glass.

I'm not sure I'd care for the coconut milk; but whatever floats your boat!
