Will free TV disappear in the future?

I found a discussion in a forum site that says streaming is now defeating free television industry. I get interested because that is what is actually happening in our home. We don't watch TV so much anymore. We use to watch a variety show in noontime but now we no longer watch. We are contented watching Netflix on our phones. We watch news at night now but we don't even finish it. We spend a lot of time more on Netflix and YouTube on our phone than watching TV shows

Netflix is not free, people pay $ 20 a month to have Netflix in Switzerland and I know that they are fighting seriously illegal streaming.

@averygirl72 Cable is expensive, for serious streaming you have to pay, if you pay nothing it is illegal streaming and if you catch you here it is a serious crime.

Streaming service are not for free. Actually YouTube has two versions one where it’s free but it’s for like bloggers YouTube plus or whatever you want to call if you pay for. Netflix is also paid for monthly, Hulu if you don’t pay for Hulu live you don’t get live tv. Most people don’t want cable any more because the prices keep going up and up.

Many now enjoy a lot of YouTube videos. Cable subscriptions are expensive. If internet service becomes cheaper many will choose to stream shows than free tv

@averygirl72 internet for me is $65 a month that’s cheap. Plus then whatever my stream service is. YouTube when you think of it isn’t for free your paying for the internet but not al of YouTube is free. Like I said YouTube is more for bloggers yes you’d an find movies and shows but to all. Also the quality might not be that good. There is also paid subscription of YouTube TV that shows Shows and movies that YouTube them selves have hired real actors to play in. A lot of them sound pretty good but I don’t need another streaming thing.

But I think there will be competition. I think more and more people will be spending their time in streaming services than free TV. But I think it will not happen soon. It make take more years to come. This is just a probability

I could never watch anything on my phone. We love our huge TV for everything. We pay for cable, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. Worth every penny.

That's so many paid subscriptions so you don't watch free TV with that

Prime video (which i happened to get when I signed of for their prime membership not knowing i would get prime video too . Lol) and Disney+ cause that's where all the disney/marvel stuff are there

I still watch free TV, but a lot of sports on cable. My sister lets me use her Netflix account, but I probably watch it twice a year. However, I do have Discovery+, and I do enjoy it a couple of times a week.

Free? we have a cable subscription for more than twenty years and we paid eleven dollars. Whats worst is that they removed the cool channels and pressured us to upgrade subscription. But we didn't. If it's free tv with only antenna not cable you were referring to, not much channels to be watch anyways. yeah, netflix was only one month free trial. next it's 10$ a month.

If this keeps up free TV is going to have to be a part of cable networks! They need to put more interesting shows on!

Many here can't afford monthly internet connection and cable subscription so I think it will not disappear easily

Netflix is not free here. I had it a few months. Not very impressed. And don't care to stream. But whatever works for you, enjoy! And I enjoy YouTube as well.
