Don’t ask if I have pen and paper

I hate when people call and ask to leave a message but don’t even wait to ask or give you a minute or so to get pen and paper they start giving you number like I can magically absorb this random number and hours of operation.
Um excuse me when you where trained for your job did they not teach you to ask if the person your leaving a message with is ready. No, okay! Great! Now your message will never get to the person you want. Have a great day!

It is common courtesy to ask if the person is ready to take the message. With that said, best to ask the person if he/she has a pen and paper to take the message down.

I agree. I normally ask first but man this person who called me this morning. She didn’t wait she just started saying numbers and the hour of operation. The good thing is hospital company he works for so I just told them that someone had called probably from the billing part of the hospital.

I wholly agree with you. Lately I have started telling them that it is my age´s fault just to be polite. It is their fault but there´s no way to explain it to them.

I don’t even tell them my age. Of course this person didn’t even stop to ask me anything other then if my husband was home and could he talk. I said no because he wasn’t here. She asked to wave a message I said yes. Then she said what she wanted to say and hung up.

If I call you I’ll be like are you ready I’ll wait. But yes some people done. They just say what they need to and if they leave a number they just assume you have something right in front of you.

I hate when someone leaves a voicemail and goes through the message at a decent pace but speeds through the phone number so you have to listen to the message more than once to get the number.

I break down my numbers. The first 3, then next 3, 2 and then 2 I do the same with my name just break it down
