Who Takes Care of Your Pets When You go on Vacation?

I am about to take my dog to the vet to get her an updated Bordetella booster so she can go to a kennel when we go away. We are planning a few trips between now and November and at the kennel we take her to, we need to have an updated Bordetella vaccine for her every 6 months.
Most kennels require it only once a year but this kennel is extra vigilant and wants it every 6 months.
I wish we had a family member who could take care of her while we are gone, but we don't. And my husband doesn't want anyone moving into our house to take care of our dog. And we don't know of any pet sitters who take dogs into their house.
Who takes care of your dog when you go on vacation?

@wolfgirl569 Aw, I am sorry that you need to ask that question which means you don't get them?

Our daughter has a big Golden Retriever and I babysat/dogsat Saint and our grandson while she and her husband went on an anniversary trip. But most of the time they board him (Saint, not Landon, lol) and that place sure knows how to spoil a pet.
Hope you find a good kennel or someone trustworthy.

@1creekgirl We have a good place but we have had her for 1 year and have never had to board her overnight before. Due to the Coronavirus, we hadn't been traveling much. I think she will enjoy her time there though. They have playtime outside 3 times a day for a few hours each time. That should keep her tired out so she can rest well at night.

We have three cats. If we're going to be gone overnight, we leave extra food for them and let them stay home. If we need to be gone more than a day, we take them with us. Most hotels/motels we stay at are pet-friendly. And, we just watch the door when we come and go.

@kaylachan I have never heard of anyone bringing their cats with them to a hotel, just dogs. But good for you for making it work for you.

We don’t have a dog, but I do have 4 ferrets, a few fish tanks, and breaded dragon. The fish get a rock tablet which feeds the fish over a course we are gone for. The lizard, depending on how long we are gone for we can fill his dishes and he is good. Other wise we give someone the keys to the house and tell them to feed him daily or check his dishes. The ferrets it’s either we being the to a family members house and they take care of them or they come to our house with a key and take care of the ferrets and the lizard.

@prashu228 Well, I guess that's one perk of not having pets, but I can't imagine life without a dog.

My aunt took care of my rabbits when i went to Guizhou Province in December, 2016.But when i came back in the next year,my rabbits were sold out and i didn't know where they are.I guessed they were killed to be the meal to celebrate the new year.
It's normal. After all,Cathay is a country without the freedom and human rights.Human being couldn't have the freedom and human rights, surely, they don't care the rights of the rabbits and other little animals.

@Kouponkaren i never get any explanation.Because i'm powerless,no one cares what i feel.I also don't dare to ask my aunt what happened to my rabbits.Because she comes from a communist family.i fear to displease her and make CCP pay attention on me.I've been on the blacklist of the CCP for my dissidence,i have to keep low to keep myself safe.
All i can do is praying to god that let my rabbits get into the heaven in the end of their lives.I believe they'll get into the heaven after all.Because their souls are innocent and good.

@choijungeun Oh no, I am so sorry. That must have been heartbreaking for you. Were you ever given any explanation as to what happened to them?

@eructsuma Good for you. That is what I would prefer...to bring her to someone's house that we know, but we don't have anyone willing to take her.
