Anyone looking at them from a distance would think they are either satin or plastic flowers.
They thrive on window sills and come in a array of colours. Why they are called African Violets is not known same as no one know why a tulip is call a tulip

They are easy to grow and I am sure you will get them in any nursery

@allknowing I need to check from my gardeners. In Delhi we experience extreme weather conditions, therefore, I am not sure if they will survive here.

Violet is the name of the flower and does not denote its colour Violets come in many colours
