The easy part is over. The last six on this list of favorite saxophone solos could get switched around on any given day, depending on my mood. Six of the best sax solos in rock and roll, in my opinion. (And of course, it’s my opinion because it’s my countdown! ) Here’s today’s “five-way-tie for second” song. #6: The Sad Café - Eagles Wanna put a great sax solo on a song? Just grab David Sanborn and let him go! (By the way, this isn’t Sanborn’s only appearance on the countdown.). Sanborn’s closing on this song is as pretty and melancholy as Don Henley’s vocals throughout the song. The Eagles’ ode to the Troubadour, the bar where they got their start as members of Linda Ronstadt’s band, this closes out what I consider the last Eagles album. That “let’s reunite for money” thing doesn’t count (although I do love the song “Busy Being Fabulous”), and this “Don Henley and Friends” thing billed as an Eagles tour sure doesn’t count in my books, either. Okay, enough of that. Enjoy this incredible song that was the perfect finale to the Eagles’ career. The Sad Café Written by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, and John David Souther Recorded by the Eagles From The Long Run, 1979 Saxophonist: David Sanborn The clouds rolled in and hid that shore:

This is a great song! Long time Eagles fan! when I was in college the only song my bandmates let me sing was Hotel California (there may have been the occasional oops I forgot the lyrics with other songs)!
