My doggy in a dextrose!

All my years caring for quadruped pets called canines, 'tis the very first time I had a six-month old pup connected in an intravenous sugar solution.
Noticed my pup malingering early Saturday morning. Noted the dentastix was accepted but not consumed.
The hunger strike continued all day Sunday that I could feel the bones fragile under the fur.
My daughter forced iced sugar cubes to prevent dehydration.
By Monday morning, the vet administered an IV after my pup tested positive for parvovirus. My pup's series of vaccination had been complete. Yet, the pup contracted the disease. Sigh!
Pretty expensive treatment for critical days on a pup's life. But I did pray for my doggy's recovery. After all, I call the pup my spirit dog.
The pup's up and running now.

So sorry to hear that your pet dog got this virus. I am not aware how this virus affects dogs but just hearing the name looks like a nasty virus that got into your pet.
But I am glad you were able to detect and placed him under medication and I hope he recovered already.

It is my understanding that there is a parvovirus contagion in the metro and the outskirts. My dogs sniff the tires of the car when I arrive. They sniff my daughter's shoes also. That could be how the pup contracted the disease.
The parvovirus is detrimental to pups. My pup was given fifty-fifty per cent chance of surviving.
Happy the pup is all right now. Thank you.

@eileenleyva It is just stressful to have a sick pet. I am glad your pet is okay now and hopefully, he will be able to combat that virus when it strikes on him again.

@rsa101 You said it right. It is stressful!
We don't have a kennel as we don't believe in caging dogs. A harrowing night restraining a dog in a leash because the dextrose might backflow. It did, actually, on the second day. Followed by a clot. My daughter had to remove the IV herself.
Yup, the serum has plasma. You know that so well, huh!

Thank you.
My doggies are my masters. Each day, I serve them food and water.
In turn, they serve as my security. They keep guard when I sleep soundly at night.

@oahuwriter Yes. My pup is all over me when I sit on the bamboo bench under a tree in the mornings. We're like Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

@averygirl72 Paralyzed for a month! Oh my, that is agonizing!
I believe the recovery has largely been due to your tender loving care.
Our pets welfare reflects the care we humans give them.

I do hope my pets also think that. Many times during the day, they want to play but I couldn't.
My pup, last week, took my tiny pillow from my couch and brought it out to the bamboo bench under the tree. That is our spot every morning. I have refrained from going out because of the rain. My doggy missed the activity.

@yoalldudes Yup, doggies have their own individual characteristics. The male dogs are usually protective of humans. The female are quiet but fierce.
I don't train my dogs.
Both are spoiled!

Thank you.
The pup is feeding on chicken strips, chicken liver, and chicken gizzard. Make that devouring, not just eating.

My daughter's giving the pup vitamins. That probably accounts for the hyper activity now.
Thanks very much.

Parvo is such a mean illness. It often just races through those little bodies so fast. I am thankful to know your baby seems better. He might now have survived if you had not acted as quickly as you did.

Not privy to parvovirus before this. Grateful the vet was able to diagnose right away and treatment was administered.

Yup, the doggy's back with a vengeance - jumping round the yard and barking at passers-by.
Thanks very much. My doggies are my daily joy.
