Day 18
Genesis 26:17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
19 And Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, “The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
21 And they dug another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
22 And he removed from thence, and dug another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
23 And he went up from thence to Beersheba.
24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.
25 And he built an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants dug a well.
What do you do when your efforts seem to fail and people come against you to take what you worked hard to accomplish?
A famine caused Isaac to move to the land of the Philistines. While there, God increased his wealth so that King Abimelech asked him to leave. When he did, Isaac opened the wells his father, Abraham, had dug when he lived there. However, strife with the people of the land caused contention between them, and he moved two more times before the people left him alone when he opened the third well. Then Isaac returned to Beersheba. When he did, God appeared to him in a dream and confirmed the promise He gave to Abraham. Instead of building a well, Isaac built an altar and called on the name of the LORD.
As Christians, people come against you for many reasons. They see your prosperity and want what you worked hard to achieve. However, when you persist in your faith, God will always take care of you.
What have you worked hard to achieve? Has someone tried to take your achievement from you and claim it as theirs? When they do, turn the situation over to God and watch Him take care of you and bless you.
Let’s pray: Father, let me dig the well of faith and find Your blessing in the work of my hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Jesus Christ talks about living water.
What is this living water, and how does it relate to our well of faith, which we must dig into God's love?
I would say that living waters are the lifeblood of God, given to us to drink of his love in that way, and faith connects the well of our mind to the waters of the living love of God, for us to succour upon, and live from in our life, by our thinking well within ourselves, the thoughts of God, because we are connected to him, through the living waters of our faith dug deeply into the wells of his love.
Faith and love allow us to drink at God's well, but we seem to need to dig that well for ourselves. It is one of the trials of our lives.

The living water, like the bread of life, is His Word. When we spend time daily in His Word, reading, chewing on it, letting it flow through us, we are drinking deep of His well.
Yes, we need to dig the wells of faith so we have something to draw upon. We can only draw on the well by reading and studying His Word. It's all connected.
