If you think about it, there really should be no surprise about these two top songs on my list of favorite sax work in a song. If you like good hot sax, and who doesn’t, today’s song is right up your alley. And I promised you this guy would show up again…..
#2: Young Americans - David Bowie
Welcome back, David Sanborn!
One of David Bowie’s greatest songs to me, the sax work that Sanborn put on this song just made a great song better.
Now, here’s something for you: like yesterday’s saxophonist, John Fogerty, Bowie could play his own sax, thank you. Bowie played sax on a lot of his early 70s albums.
I realize that it’s been 46 years of “indoctrination,” but I just cannot fathom anybody playing sax on this song but Sanborn.
The perfect sax work for a dang near perfect song.

@FourWalls i always enjoy your lists - the explanations you give always tell me why you rank a specific song where you do.
