i need some space!

Hey guys, its common in relationships for someone to say to their partner.' I need some space'. Often its misinterpreted and mostly their better halves end up withdrawing their attention and then it goes like, '' i said i need my space but u don't give me any attention''. It becomes rather confusing at times. So what does it literally mean when your partner tells you,'' i need some space''? I've had a problem giving space and attention at the same time in my past relationships and it never worked so well.

Ohh my friend..... Even I didn't understand the meaning till now, they need space and if we try to then they would say we are paying attention anymore. This is some times so confusing and irritating as well. If you find some answers from fellow mylotters, then even I would love to read it
