Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! for all the kind wishes related to my being bulldozed by that second covid shot. Thank God, I’m doing pretty well right now. The biggest issue, as anyone who’s had the shot will attest, is that stinking headache that borders on a migraine. You know what’s good for a headache? Music! So here’s another song that has the title of a song contained in the lyrics. Gee, does this song look familiar….. #6: The Sad Café - Eagles And you’re thinking, hey, didn’t you just use this a countdown or two ago? Why, YES! Thanks for noticing. (This is the second recent repeat on the list, following “Long May You Run.”) And speaking of “Long May You Run,” this song has a connection to Neil Young: one of the two songs mentioned in the first bridge is the beautiful Buffalo Springfield ballad “Expecting to Fly.” That’s not the only song mentioned in this, though: they even recite a little of an old hymn called “In the Sweet By-and-By” (“we would meet on that beautiful shore in the sweet by and by”). As I noted when I highlighted David Sanborn’s closing sax work on this song, this is a beautiful, bittersweet song that closed out the “real” career of the Eagles. A perfect ending.
