The Rabbi meets an angel, in disguise

Rabbi Schluemann, was a perceptive man, and wherever he went, he could perceive a fellow-man, or woman, of God. He could feel the holiness in them, the pureness, of their hearts, and the love, pouring from it, to all around. One day, while walking through a busy marketplace, he noticed a woman, at a store, selling bread. He felt her aura hit him, even before he got close to her. It exuded from her being, to a great distance around her, in all directions. He went up to her, and he made as if he was interested in her bread. The woman noticed that he had no intention to buy bread, but that he was merely observing her. The woman said to him, "Oh, Rabbi, if only I had the time to observe people as you do, I would be able to see as you do too. I, though, know that you have seen something that puzzles you about me, and to put your mind at rest, it is because I am an angel. I am temporally here to share my light with all." The Rabbi, didn't expect such an answer, and it made him think that she was just another nutter, whose nuttiness was also a powerful force, that could be felt by sensitive people, like himself, too. The Lady then said. "I am no nutter, and my message for you today, is to love life as you find it, and not as you think that you see that it is. Your sight is often wrong. What you see must be seen with inner eyes, and then you will really see." "Here, have this loaf of bread, and let me attend to my other customers, please." The Rabbi left, having learnt a valuable lesson, on humility. "Humility is not thinking any less of yourself; it's more thinking of yourself less, and thinking more, of all others, all around you." to paraphrase, the thoughts of C. S. Lewis, the great British writer, (1898 to 1963), who said something similar. (Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less. -C. S. Lewis.) Thanks. I like to try to create a story, with some type of a lesson behind it, or a take away learning embedded within it too.

@id_peace Yes, humility usually goes along with honesty too, and pride is usually associated with dishonesty.

Not easy to dissolve ego as it rears its head all the time. Humility should come naturally when the self retracts to the background and merge into the oneness that has no borders.

Yes, well said, siva. Merging into the oneness, is usually a recipe that solves all of our problems for us too. We become a real piece of the cake then, rather than our just trying to add ourselves to the cake, as a coating of icing on top.

@Shiva49 Yes, it's a unique mix when oneness mixes itself into the uniqueness of individuality, but we need to allow it to do its thing within ourselves too.

@innertalks Thanks Steve, we need to not see borders and divisions everywhere. They are our creations through our pettiness. We need to embrace oneness through sharing, caring, and loving all without borders, preconceived notions. Then our world will look and feel different. The oneness of creation and the uniqueness in each of us will transform our mere existence into bliss. Break free from self-imposed shackles is the clarion call.
