Short Story: John's connecting dreams

The fields at the back of his Grandmothers house were like this. No bush, only grass fields.

When John was a teenager, he stayed with his Grandmother, in her little country town, of Frezborough. He remembered, at the time, that he had had a dream there, of walking through the bushland, with his brother, Charles, at the back of his Grandmother's property. The thing was though, that his dream was wrong, as there was no bushland there, only grassy paddocks. Then, fifty, or more years later, John was also dreaming that he was at his Grandma's old house, again. He dreamed that it had been added to, since she had died, and that it was much bigger now, and out the back, there were a lot of new development houses, and new roads too. In the new dream, John was remembering that when he was a boy, he, and his brother, Charles, used to walk the dirt paths in the bush, out the back, where the new housing development now was. But, then, when John woke up, he realised that he had had only done that in a dream, when he was a boy, and that really, there was never no bush there at all, just paddocks, of grass. John wondered to himself about how could he in his current dream recall it wrong too, and just as it had been being, as in his old dream, from fifty years ago, rather than as it exactly really was, back then too. He had long forgotten his first dream of many years ago, but he remembered it again now, as it came into his memory, and connected now to this new dream too. The new dream memory remembered how the old dream had depicted this so long ago, but the new dream never corrected the actually wrong picture of the terrain around his grandmother's house, again too. John remained puzzled about his two connected dreams. Afterword of explanation: Dreams live within their own worlds, and their own worlds are constructed just for them. Sometimes, they pull in elements from our memory, into them, but the scene is set up in a new way sometimes, not factually accurate to get us to make a connection to a vital truth, that would not be made otherwise. John saw that his outward path was not perfect in his life, but that it always remained perfect inwardly for him, as it does for all others too. what dreams may come. inside of us there is a series of interconnected memories. Over time we mix some of them into a new or created memory. those, created memories often feel more real than the actual memory in origin. It is in that we can find messages form our subconscious. To not see only detail but to instead take in the whole!

I have a view that our dreams are not just compiled from our old memories, but that they can contain fresh input, coming to us from outside of our memories too, perhaps from our soul, or from an inner guide of us too. We are being given a chance to change our thoughts on why, and how, we live our lives, as we currently do so. For example, I had this dream last night. I was dreaming that I was seated on a bench, at a bus stop. There was another man, seated on the concrete, on the ground, reading a newspaper there. I saw some coins on the concrete, at the end of my seat, and I moved over, and stretched my hand down the side of the seat, to pick some of them up. I picked up some 5 cent coins first, although there were some higher value coins there too. The man seated on the concrete then leant over, and picked up the highest value coin, a $2 coin. He told me, "I saw those coins too, but they looked to be all small coins, from here, but seeing you pick them up, I noticed that $2 coin was there too. It was stupid of me to not see the larger coins there too." I replied, "Well, I was stupid too. I should have not felt sheepish about picking up the coins, if I was picking them up, and I should have picked up those larger coins first too." Then my bus came, and I got on it, but I got confused, then, while on the bus, and I thought that I had gone past my stop, so I rang the bell to get off. I got off, but it then appeared that I had actually gotten off too early, and now I was a bit disorientated here, and lost as to the direction that I should go in to get to the building, where I was going to, to work there for that day. I could just have waited for the next bus, but I thought that I would be late to get to work then too. So, I walked a bit, but then I became even more lost. This dream shows me that I like to find/obtain things for nothing, but that my actually doing of this, still incurs a price, as I become lost, when increased levels of consciousness have not been obtained from truth, but from my opportunistic need for greed, instead.

@DocAndersen I have had a few flying dreams too, and I have found that people fly in different ways. I have flown straight up like a rocket; I have flown like superman, and at other times, I have just flown inches from the ground sort of fly-gliding along the pavement. Another time, I was in a chair, and I held onto the chair, and I flew around the room still sitting within it.

@innertalks i read a great article many years ago in Omni Magazine about shaping your dreams, that you can set the stage before you sleep. i enjoy dreams where I am flying, or ones where I am out on the water. Not the negative iterations of either. But, the knowledge we miss around us, the things our eyes see that we do not see, that is what comprises our dreams. our unconscious wants us to see what we missed!

Dreams and reality clash as dreams could depict the real path, what it should be, while we are stuck in a rut in real life. Maybe repeated dreams tell us to change our course to the right path. My dreams are tough to decipher as I am in unfamiliar surroundings mostly and so I do not bother to try to track them later.

I am often in familiar surroundings, but people that I have never met in my real life sometimes appear in them too. I wonder if my mind made that person up, or if it is someone else having a dream at the same time as me, that somehow mixes into my dream somehow too, or perhaps it is some type of a guide from some other world. Yes, repeated dreams do seem to be emphasising a message for us that we have not properly received as yet, and so they come back again to us, to give us another chance to get the message again. The message is what we receive, and it is a given, both in dreams, and in life, but how we receive the message, our attitude towards it, our valuing of it, or not, is up to us to determine. God never tires of presenting his messages to us though. That's how much he loves us.

@innertalks I saw today how AI can create endless faces that look just real - see the link. Maybe, we can give life to them in the future as they look full of life anyway! I do believe dreams have a deeper meaning and our subconscious mind is connected to another medium to give us insights into another world that for now looks hazy. The message could be that we live here for the present but highlighting endless possibilities. So I think it is better not to rack our brains too much but at the same time to rest assured that this life is not all there is to us.

@Shiva49 Interesting. My wife logs onto her iPhone using face recognition. I wonder if it will cause a problem for that type of recognition scanner. Perhaps, our brains, or God can do that too, and that's how they create our dreams, as well.
