Job Update - Not Sure If It Is Good Or Bad

Hello mylotters. Hope all is well with everyone.
So, I got transferred to a different post in my current work. It is immediate so I missed my rest days last Saturday and Sunday to undergo 'training'. I was informed about this only last Friday and truth be told, I was not consulted about this. It is completely different from what I previously do but it is related. I can see the upside in the new post but the main downside is I won't have commissions in this new role. Plus, I've been meaning to leave this work because there is no growth and there is a lot of politics going on in this office that I do not want to be a part of. Imagine, we are already working from home and yet, the higher-ups still insist on doing things like we are in still in the office. Anyway, I can still use the income but I will be getting a new contract by August 1. If there are changes in my salary - like if they are giving me a lower rate for the new post (yes they have done it before with others), I'll likely pack it in and leave. I did drop hints that it is already my plan but it seems the manager didn't catch on or simply ignored it. I won't be surprised if it was the latter. Although, if I was a manager/supervisor and I was at a number of times in my career, I would simply let the person go. No sense in having someone who want to leave stay.
Your thoughts, fellow myLotters?

The fact that you were not even consulted means you don't mean much to them. Those bosses are arrogant ignoramuses.
I sense you are not happy with the job any longer. Better if you pursue your plan B.

Yup, although the new tasks and learning new things is something I enjoy and look forward to. That is one of the upsides.

@eileenleyva true.
The person training me now is a man of many interests and passions. He is an actor, scriptwriter, author, and artist. Just now, we are talking about Tolkien. So there maybe a silver lining in this new job post.

@allen0187 Dilly dally not. There is much out there that could spark a routinary existence. Pursue the passion.

The people who play politics at work are those that cannot get ahead in a fair and level playing field.

One tjing that troubled me is the practice of lowering salary which l know is not ethical as well as legal. You can retain salary but never lower them. I think if you are not happy working with them then you should not stay further but I think you should see to it that you found a replacement after so that you would stay afloat financially.

Same thoughts but it has happened to a colleague of mine. So I'm wary that it might happen to me. Of course, I won't allow it and would move on to a different company. I have submitted my resume to a couple of other companies including to some friends who can refer me.
Really hoping for the best outcome for me here.

Sounds like they secretly cutting costs if no commissions at new role. Weird how they did not even ask you or talk it over. That is a bad sign right there. Your hunches are probably right. Get what you can out of it and if they did not have the respect to be straight up with you, yeah its probably time to move elsewhere. I really hate how corporations have all the power. Barely any unions here anymore, when we had them. That is when America thrived, now that they mostly gone its no wonder most people cannot really afford to live here anymore.

Major red flag really. Although, I've been in the new post since Saturday and it is really easy. Not sure because I'm still training but seems like there's a lot of free time in this post.

@allen0187 Free time is good but corporations are about profit and if you have free time, that is not always bad, but it could also mean other things. I always liked the smaller companies because just they knew what they were doing, been there for ages and free time much easier to come by than big corporations, not always but usually. I like the ones with the even flow. Not that I have ever had that other than military but me and my old boss would go why can't work just not be to fast and not to slow. I hope you know what I mean.

@crossbones27 most definitely.
I do the usual work load starting tomorrow, Monday. Hopefully, it is easier than usual and if I do have the free time as always I'll be here in myLot making posts or commenting on other people's posts.

It will be a cold day in hell if I get a job with a lower salary.

If you don't like the job and have a reasonable chance of landing something else I would leave.

I'm already looking for new work. I don't want to resign in the middle of a pandemic and be jobless. @florelway (23339)

That's totally absurd when they transfer you to another department without having to consult with you. If you're no longer happy with your work better make a decision. If you feel you're not growing in the company then maybe look for other options. But are you ready to be in between jobs? It's hard to be in between jobs with bills to pay plus other expenses.

Agree with you. Especially with this pandemic. I do know that there are a lot of WFH jobs available but is it best to get a new job first before leaving the current one.
