Stealth yarn-bombing

In recent years a bit of a ‘thing’ has developed for so-called ‘yarn-bombing’ - decorating street furniture such as lamp posts with knitted or crocheted covers. I’ve seen it done in a couple of places, especially in preparation for some local event. The other day though, and for no particular reason (just to bring a little bit of cheer I guess) I found that some skilled person has created a crochet scene as a ‘hat’ for the local post box! It’s kind of cute and it made me smile. And so far, in spite of all the heavy rain we’ve been having, it still looks good and hasn’t turned into a bedraggled mess as I feared. I wonder who made it? There seem to be a few around - a Halloween-themed one has now appeared in the next town, with little white ghosts.

@Fleura Even if Halloween is not celebrated here, I will make some decorations and prepare a special dinner, just for fun.

@fleura Very cheery. Do you knit toilet roll cosies? My friend knit her friend a woolly thing to wear over the splint on her finger.

I have not seen anything like that here in the US. I wonder if a new trend is starting and will soon make its way across the pond to us?

@Fleura That’s very interesting. But if it brings a smile to someone’s face, then let’s hope they keep appearing!

I don't know what started it. There are a few around - a Halloween-themed one has now appeared in the next town.

Someone else (or possibly even the same person I guess) has decorated another pillar box in our local town as well.
