A new month has officially started, and I have not seen much success in trying to lose weight/get my blood sugars under control. Today ended up being a carb day.
I was introduced to something on YouTube through some people I follow that they do to help with weight loss or for health.
They do something called PSMF - or Protein Sparing Modified Fasting. It is where you keep your fat low, and protein high...and carbs as close to zero as possible.
I thought I could do that a couple times a week, and then Keto the other days. Maybe even 1 day a week of JUST Keto chow shakes.
Not sure exactly yet on the details, other than at least doing a mixture of Keto and PSMF. Still need to figure out what my macros would be for those days. On those days I would eat more chicken, turkey, fish, etc...
One of those I follow cooks 1 and half pounds of chicken breast and eats that as their only meal for the day. Not saying I would do that, but that's probably something I could actually do (with enough seasoning).
Anyways, what do you all think of that?

Sounds like a solid start. I'm going to look into the PSMF for myself.

@MommyOfEli2013 I just need to lose these last few lbs and then try to moderately add some carbs back into my life (in a smaller scale).

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well best of luck...and hope that you can enjoy some carbs again. I don't think I can have any carbs and keep my blood sugar under control....but I don't think I could do a totally zero carb diet. I got to have cheese and some chocolate (sugar free) lol

@MommyOfEli2013 zero carb is a goal - I get to few in a day. I still like the occasion potatoes!

@DocAndersen It is a goal for you? Or for people in general? Me? Lol. I think I could do close to zero as long as I don't have to do that EVERY day - so that is one reason I want to do this new protein fast thing. Since I would be having a lot of protein and only carbs from like seasonings I add

Doing drastic things like fasting and eating once a day will only keep you hungry and you will not lose weight because of having to eat something when you are hungry. Best to balance your meals or even eat 4 or 5 small meals throughout the day early evening. If you are also a diabetic, this fasting could be dangerous to your health.

If I am eating over a pound of chicken a day, I am not going to be hungry...I won't be starving myself. Eating more meals is not best because every time you eat you spike insulin and when that is spiked you store fat. I have researched this....

@MommyOfEli2013 It is better to have small meals throughout the day to avoid spikes in insulin and/or sugar as well as drops in sugar. No wonder you are seeing a roller coaster there.

@kareng I disagree. I have done research....eating spikes insulin, so a lot of meals wouldn't be good, nor snacking in between meals. I see the roller coaster because I am coming off of months of carbs; and then I had a day (or two) with carbs again.

I do not know enough really but some of that sounds unhealthy, starving your body of certain things but have learned through the show of " Alone" eating just protein with no fat will make you lose weight.
This one guy actually killed a moose and there is not much fat on them as they all muscle. There is a little he stored in a tree tried to be high up but a wolverine stole it.
He thought he just conquered the competition , but as soon as that fat disappeared he started starving because eating straight meat with no fat is not enough no matter how much you eat. Why I worry about vegans and all them. He just kept losing weight and had to exit the show and competition because he was in danger of damaging his vital organs for not getting proper nutrition.

I won't be having no fat.....just some days I won't have high fat. I won't be starving myself either.
Not sure what to say about the rest....but yeah vegan does not sound healthy to me.

As you would be doing different things each day it could help.

@just4him Well the PSMF thing is not a daily thing...just like some might do a day of fasting (no food) I wouldn't do this daily.

Well, I can't please everybody. I honestly don't know what to do anymore....so why not try everything (well except for diets with fruits and vegetables)
