Indy Car Race in Downtown Nashville

Nashville is growing way too fast in my opinion. They seem to be running out of places to house all of the people that are flocking here. So many sporting events happening and the city is looking more like Motown this summer. The city has already played host to the first Nascar Cup Series race at Nashville Super speedway and the season finale of the SRX Racing series at the historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and is now set to host Indy Car on the streets of downtown. For three days in August (6th-8th), the streets of downtown will come alive with the sounds of music, food, and racing. This street circuit takes racers by Nissan Stadium, home of the NFL Tennessee Titans, and over the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge into downtown Nashville, the first motorsports course of its kind in the world to cross a major body of water. I will be staying home. The traffic delays will be horrendous. I hope those attending will be safe and enjoy!

In my country there are still places where viewers are not allowed yet.

@CarolDM The head of the health apartment here says what can be done in every place.

What hurts me is they’re destroying country music history for the sake of the growth. In ten years people are going to get sick of the overpriced life in Nashvegas and leave….and that history will be long gone and they’ll never get it back. (They’re contemplating selling/tearing down the places on Music Row where a lot of history was made. To indicate how bad it is: the only place still standing where Hank Williams recorded…..is in Cincinnati. )

I totally agree. It is heartbreaking to see many historic places replaced with new ones. Very sad to watch.

I'm sure that with all of those racecars it will get noisy for a while.

@CarolDM Can you watch it at home and so you can be safe and sound? It sounds like too many people to be out for that and during the corona that is not good at all. Good idea to stay home.

I don't really care about these races. It was probably on tv. But I was happy at home. I just don't care for crowds, nothing to do with COVID.

I'm not a racing fan. I'd hide out at home too. I hate traffic. Have a great Sunday.

You can't hardly go anywhere downtown lately without traffic, closed roads and crowds. Not for me.

Nice but better to stay home. That certainly is a lovely view there of the car and the city.

When I lived in Memphis---1969-1979--and had to drive to Chattanooga every Monday I avoided Nashville---it was too 'city' back then---I hate to thin what it looks like today! Miami had the Nascar series for a year or two and then cancelled them---don't know why but probably a money loss situation!!

It is absolutely crazy now. They are bringing in lots of money I am sure. But it is not the same Nashville from a few years ago.

There are many events everywhere in Chicago for Lollapalooza, which is one of the largest music festivals in the country. The mayor attended. South Dakota has over 700k for Sturgis, the annual motorcycle rally.
