What the town of Greenville California is going through due to the Dixie fire is something I would never wish on my worst enemy. If I have learned anything about these tragic events is that an act of heroism does make it to the news stories. Thanks to the alert work of an AFP reporter named Josh Edelson, a firefighter was photographed saving an American flag from the side of the road as the flames were coming toward his fire engine. The firefighter who has not been identified took the American flag down from the flagpole and carried the flag to safety under extreme heat conditions. I am sure that the firefighter will tell persons who know him that he was just doing his duty since he loves this nation.

For me it's not worth doing. The flag could be replaceable. But lives aren't.

One of the most noble things. Of course I am an American, so what that flag means to me is pretty damn important. There is something sacred about Old Glory. Even flying her on my house I take GREAT CARE. The most beautiful symbol in the world in my humble opinion.

As a native of Panama from the former Canal Zone, I agree with your comments about Old Glory being precious to all of us.
