That is Peppie the son and Kittie the mother. There is no place that they have not found to make themselves comfortable . They are squatting on top of our kitchen fridge.
Kittie no longer delivers babies and so she has accepted Peppie. Earliere she would just shoo all her earlier kids away.

I have an idea of how my cats behave when Burt likes to sleep on a blanket in my bed and when he meows when he wants to take a walk outside.

@allknowing Another way I understand a cat is when I feed them cat food and the cats run toward the plate to eat.
