Met Eli's Teacher!

We should have gone a bit earlier (we were on time though) - the parking lot was more than full when we arrived. Didn't think as many people would show up, especially in the pouring rain. Anyways, we went inside the gym where the lists were posted, and the treat sale was going on. Eli's teacher is Ms. Stanger. We learned that this is her first year teaching here - she's worked at the school I guess but not as a teacher. So, hopefully Eli will like her. She seemed very nice. Eli even got to choose where he will sit; usually seats are assigned. I am sure if students sitting by each other have issues then they will be moved...but for now they get their own choice. The teacher gave us a schedule of what their day will look like. This year it looks like they'll only get one 10 minute recess. Last year they got three. I know, with going only 4 days they need more learning time - so I guess that does make sense. After meeting his teacher and filling out her contact info stuff; we went back to the gym to the treat sale. Everything was $1 and it goes back to the school for field trip, parties, and so on. It looked like they had sold quite a bit when we went through. We did get a few things. Anyways....so that was the excitement with the teacher meeting. It's crazy that he goes back on Monday already! I am glad though that he only goes Monday through Thursday.

I’m sure Eli enjoyed meeting his new teacher beforehand and choosing his seat and desk. Wishing him a wonderful school year!

He wouldn't even talk to the teacher. He never talked to his teacher last year either. But choosing his own seat was cool Thank you

@DianneN I hope so....I think she'll try to make it fun for them. Oh yeah I know about the talking thing....I was shy too (I have always had anxiety) so having to talk in class was dreadful

Why only a four-day week? I'm glad she seems nice and he could select his seat.

I'm glad things went well. I'm still surprised that he will only be going to school four days a week.

@MommyOfEli2013 As long as they are learning what they need to know, I guess it's OK!

Well they did that for a month or so before Christmas break last year and it went well. So, they are just doing it the whole year this time. Other schools in the state were already doing 4 day school weeks.

The first day is always nice because it is mostly getting to know everyone and not doing a lot of actual work lol! I always dreaded going back to school after summer break.
