Most people who know any Neil Sedaka song at all have probably been waiting for this tune to show up in my countdown of favorite tunes by the legendary singer/songwriter. Definitely one of his biggest hits….so why is it so low on the countdown? ‘Cause I have five songs I like better, that’s why! Here’s today’s big hit. #6: Bad Blood Thanks, Elton. For those of you who don’t know, Elton John was more than a little responsible for Sedaka’s comeback in the States in the mid-70s. EJ had a record label, Rocket Records, and he signed Sedaka to the label right about the time that Elton became super hot property. Elton wrote the liner notes to the 1974 release Sedaka’s Back, which was a compilation of songs from albums that had been released in England previously. That worked like a charm. Sedaka scored his first #1 in the US since 1962’s “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do” with the song “Laughter in the Rain.” Hey, Elton, how about singing with Neil for another hit? Check. While Elton was racking up his own string of #1 hits in the era (“Bennie and the Jets,” “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” and “Island Girl”), he ALSO hit #1 singing backup on two songs: John Lennon’s “Whatever Gets You Thru the Nite” and this one. With Sedaka more of a “traditionalist,” Elton’s influence with the electric piano on this song shows through as much as his backing vocals. Yeah, thanks Elton, indeed. Bad Blood Written by Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody From The Hungry Years, 1975 I don’t understand what you’re looking to find:

I know this one too. Didn't realize Elton sang backup when he was already a big star.
