It's always nice when things like hot dogs end up in the culls fridge, especially when I don't have any hot dogs left at home! I feel a little less guilty about giving this brand to the kids too, as it tends to have fewer "weird" ingredients.
In addition to the hot dogs, I found a package of mint chip low-sugar ice cream bars, a package of purple potatoes, and a bottle of unsweetened cold brew coffee. I grab the cold brew bottles whenever I find them in the fridge since I often sip iced coffee while I'm working, and it's nice to not have to make it myself sometimes (or to pay what Starbucks would charge for it).
I also bought my daily gallon of milk (yes, this house goes through a gallon of milk a day) and a loaf of bread (since there wasn't any sliced bread in the culls area).
I'll probably roast the potatoes and serve them alongside dinner tonight, as I don't want to wait too long before using them. I'll save the hot dogs for another night and have put them in the freezer for now.
Today is not just Friday, but I also have the next two days off from work! I'm so glad it's the weekend!

They're quite good. The brand is becoming more mainstream, and I can find it at places like Target and our local chain grocery stores now, although it's one of the more expensive brands.

Heritage potatoes? Do they taste different from regular potatoes?

I haven't found that purple/blue potatoes taste very different from white or yellow potatoes. They're fun to have though.

@spiderdust I know Heirloom potatoes are expensive when you buy the plant stock from catalogues...

@DaddyEvil Yeah, they are. I know some varieties of heritage potatoes are cultivated for their flavor, and some for their hardiness.

It helps knowing when to look. My shift starts before the store opens, around the time that the department managers are restocking their shelves and pulling items off of them. I look in the culls areas when I clock in, when I take my break, and when I clock out for the day.
It doesn't hurt that some of the department managers know we have a bunch of kids at home and will sometimes set things aside specifically for me. I've come to work some mornings and have found half-full jugs of milk that the coffee bar manager set aside for me in the walk-in fridge, or that someone put a box of vanilla almond butter packets in my locker.

You really do get the good stuff from your work! I'll bet sometimes that dictates your meal plans - which is good because it's less thinking to do. Enjoy the entire weekend off
