Great Chief Living Cloud, was an American Indian chief, who lived for his people, not for himself. He said that, the Indian lived not for his own life, but for the ongoing life of the world. Then he added, rather philosophically, "When you live only for your own life, all is lost, but when you live to be a part of the world, all lives then forever, contributed within the world, where nothing is ever lost, as once actioned, the action has permanently affected all, and so the effect goes on rippling, in the all, forever." "We do not want the riches of this world, though, we only want to ensure that peace, love, and honour, live in all, and live in the World, forever too." "We need to hold onto our vision." "A man with vision reaches the clouds, before he is rained upon. We do not lose heart in our land, as we give it extra heart." "For the white man, life is largely a waste of time." "All of their outer writing will be lost one day, as they have the point in it, pointing in the wrong direction. Their dreams are lost, during their lifetimes." "Their writing, their memories, and finally their life itself is lost too." "Whereas to us Indians, our lands sustain us, even in our deaths. We keep living, and the land keeps us alive, in itself." "The land has no death song, until you teach it one, by your ways." His truths lived too deeply within him, to be drowned out in that way.

It helps too, if the rain is a gentle warming rain. My wife, when she was a child in the Philippines, used to tell me of her pleasure in walking in the warm gentle rains there then, with her friends. It is so hot there, that that rain was very nice to feel on one, as one walked.

@DocAndersen You are enthusiastic about your walking. I usually do not venture out in rain, at all, unless it has been wet all of the week, and I am forced to then, as I feel myself, getting housebound, and stodgy then.

A profound thought and a needed reminder as we get carried away by those that are fleeting, flatter only to deceive. We are mere trustees of what we hold physically and we depart with nothing but memories in those we touch. That way, we will pass on with a smile on our faces than trying to clutch at straws, even seeing our own waiting impatiently for our departure. Sadly, we have embraced a culture of greed and ego that go with our possessions and then we hang on to them as if our lives depend on them. Chief Living (Loving) Cloud has left a lasting legacy.

Thanks, siva. Yes, I was thinking of calling him Chief Loving Cloud, but I thought that if somebody lives fully, in the right way, they are also living in a loving way too. We need to love life rightly to live life rightly. When we love right, we love the world, and all around us, and so, as you said, we are true trustees to all, then too.

@innertalks Yes, we have a spread in front of us to feast to our hearts content but we have to choose wisely, value add, mix the countless ingredients wisely, to live life rightly. There is no need to deprive ourselves to do so. We lose the plot when we gorge on the resources, hoard them to deprive others, and wantonly misuse the resources, live as if there is no tomorrow.

@Shiva49 Yes, love shares everything with everybody. Greed only wants it all for itself.
