Here are a few facts I learned about the board game Monopoly that was introduced in February of 1935 by the Parker Brother's company which I have always loved to play and a lot of people do.
I learned today that Parker Brother's company prints out $50 billion a year in Monopoly money which is more then the United States Treasury does every year.
The longest Monopoly game was 99 hours
and it was played in a bathtub.
And I wish the world was like a Monopoly board game! Since 1935 the property and housing prices have not gone up!

Monopoly was originally based on The Landlord's Game by Elizabeth Magie. Early versions of Monopoly didn't come with any tokens but players were expected to use buttons or suchlike. Wooden pieces were introduced but replaced with metal in 1937. Parker Brothers reverted to wood during WWII due to metal shortages.
I enjoy playing Monopoly, and have several versions of it. I wrote about it on my blog in 2018 as part of my 'Table Goth' game review series, and I wrote an article about it on Vocal 2 years ago. I've also written reviews on several other games as well as an article about the history of chess.
