This was the closest I've been to fainting. Hit my head on a wall....

Yesterday scared the crap out of me. I treated myself to an infrared sauna. I've done it a few times and never had a problem. But yesterday didn't go so well. In the past (back when I was with that abusive monster) I had a lot of episodes of nearly fainting in the shower. Maybe due to stress? But it was always the same. I'd feel dizzy, vision gets darker and hearing starts to go. I would tell myself "I'm ok, breathe slowly." Then crawl onto the floor til I was better. I drank a bottle of water before I entered the sauna then 2 bottles while I was in there. It reached 65 degrees Celsius. I hate the heat with weather but love sauna heat but yesterday I couldn't handle it. I felt sick. I stood up and slowly walked out of the sauna. Then tunnel vision began, hearing was going and then started feeling dizzy. I sat on the floor. I thought "Oh no, please I hate this feeling." But it got worse to the point I (and remember I'm shy) wanted to open the door and yell for help. But I only had my undies on. I slowly stood up to get dressed then started panicking as the faint feeling was really intense. After I put my shirt and pants on, I stood still looking at the wall. The only way I can explain, it was like I had no thoughts. I don't remember thinking and was numb. I stood there and then lost control of my legs like a drunk. I swayed all the way to the left banging into the wall, then swayed all the way to the right banging into the wall in this room. Maybe a few more times I did that. I don't remember. Then I stood straight finally. But swayed back and forth, back and forth, again, I felt like I had no thoughts throughout this, like my brain was on pause and then BANG. My eyes closed like I was about to sleep and fell forward into the wall banging my head hard. I actually couldn't tell you what happened right after that. I know I put my shoes on eventually, packed up and went out. I texted my dad some time through out this asking if he could please pick me up juice when getting me as I felt sick and faint. The lady working there asked how I went and I told her what happened. She was so nice. Got me to sit down, gave me a cold towel and fruit. But that was weird too. I picked up a strawberry but couldn't identify what it was. I thought "Is this celery? No it isn't....I think." My dad got me. I didn't tell him about banging my head til I was in the car to avoid him worrying while driving to get me. He was worried anyways as my texting was a bit off. But yeah was a painful night. I had a thumping headache for roughly 12 hours last night and my left elbow is sore. I guess from swaying into the wall hard. I've never once fainted but only had the symptoms. I'm stubborn when it comes to sleep. But yesterday was the absolute closest I've ever been. Did I kinda faint when my eyes closed and falling in the wall? And did me banging into the wall snap me out of it? I'm unsure what happened. I'm guessing I was overheated. Have you ever fainted or been close?

@DocAndersen Hey no worries at all! Always glad to see / hear from you wherever and whenever. Yeah all is good thank you kindly. I was a tad confused the day after. I remember trying to count something (can't remember what it was now) but instead of counting numbers I was like "January, February, March...." and realised that wasn't right.

Are you okay now?! I fainted when I was 12yrs old, and I've been pretty dizzy before, but I haven't actually fainted since then.

@tammys85 I am thank you very kindly. I hope I never have that experience ever again. Way too scary. I hope you never faint again. Do you know what the fainting was due to when you were 12? So sorry for my late response!

@VivaLaDani13 You're welcome, and I hope you never have that experience again as well! Thank you so much! Nope. My doctor ordered tests but the results never showed anything and I haven't fainted since then. I just figured it was the health-related test, about first aid, blood and whatnot, we were taking in school. I was fine until then and even other students complained that it made them feel icky. No need to apologize. I've been terrible with my notifications as of late.

I'm guessing you fainted when you hit the wall and your eyes closed. I'm sure you were overheated at 65 celsius. That's way too hot. I'm not surprised you had a headache. I hope you're feeling better now.

@just4him I can only assume so because I didn't mean to close my eyes like that. I am kinda glad the bump on the wall somewhat snapped me out of it. Was all such a weird and scary experience. I am doing much better from it now thank you so much.

@CarolDM It sure was! I don't want to go back anytime soon in case it happens again. Thank you. What was it like fainting? Was there a reason? (if that's ok to ask). So sorry for my late reply!

I fainted twice. Once in my school playground during our morning prayer. It was midsummer so of course due to overheat. Another time when our school bus suddenly stopped working and the driver told us to get off the bus. It was on a highway and the bus was close to the side path. I missed a step and landed straight on the side path which was quite low. And sprained my ankle. Then I blacked out due to excessive pain. It was a dreadful experience....but nothing like yours. Hope you are fine now.

Once when I was 11 I fainted/passed out in the driveway after getting out of the car after I came home from a radiation treatment. I remember I got out of the car and then the next thing I knew my Mom was standing by me and I had a fat lip.

Ooo Dani I am sorry my dear. I wonder if you could get your head checked out sometime? Or blood tests or something? I wonder if there is an underlying cause to all this

@RebeccasFarm Hey. Sorry for my late reply. I am doing alright now but I don't feel like going back there for awhile. Scared it will happen again. I can only guess it was me being overheated.

Oh my goodness, 65 degrees Celsius is a dangerous temperature if you do not have the okay from a doctor that this is safe for you. It would not be safe for me. Yes I have fainted and hit badly my head, it's a bad sensation.

Wow, that was a pretty detailed recount of your experience. And pretty frightening. I felt my heart rate increasing more and more as I read through your post. I'm glad you're okay, but that could have been a seriously scary event for you had you passed out and hit your head harder than you did. Keep drinking plenty of fluids, and stay observant about your thoughts and actions over the next week or so. Sometimes head injuries don't fully manifest themselves until days or weeks later. I'm hoping you don't have a concussion at all.

@moffittjc It was very scary. Only thing I can't remember still is what happened directly after I hit my head on the wall. And you are right. I was worried about passing out and hitting my head hard on something and with the size of the room and furniture around, it was very possible to happen. Thank you for your support and advice. I am completely ok. But I do hope this never happens again. Too scared to go back there right now. Sorry for late reply!

Fainting spells occur due to many reasons like weakness, low blood pressure, dehydration, anaemia, intolerable pain. Too much heat (as you were in sauna) can cause that. Maybe not the right time for the sauna thing? It's been a awhile since you have had the experience. I hope you haven't suffered the same again since then. Though, head banging does concern me. Next time please sit down and let the spell run its course or call someone for help immediately. You could have had hurt yourself worse with those head banagings and gotten concussions or something. In my experience, when I have the first sign of ringing, vision gets darker and hearing starts to go, I just stop any movements and get myself settled in a safe comfortable position to let it pass. Because movements cause the spell to become worse. So, please wait it out next time. Don't hesitate to call for help if it isn't getting better. It always helpful to have lime juice with you in summer heat. It works better than just plain water.

@Daljinder Unsure. I can only just assume it was being over heated. All is good now regarding all that. Just doubting I would go back any time soon. That is true. I moved very slowly when I was trying to get dressed. Thank you for the hint! We are in Summer now. Been a couple hot days though mostly cold still. So why lime juice? Does lime assist with cooling the body down? Or extra hydrating or something? I've never had that before. I would love to try find it or try make it myself.

You need to take more care and stop this sauna because may be it's not for you and you better add some vitamins into your daily diet

@Butterfingers Hey Raj. So sorry for my late reply! I have only been to this place 3 or 4 times so it's not a common thing for me. Last time I went was probably close to a year ago so I'm not over doing this in any way. But I don't want to go back there again any time soon as the fear is still there. I'm only guessing my body overheated but I am fine now.
