Fun at the Renaissance Festival

My dance troupe was invited by another troupe to dance at this state's Renaissance Festival . Minnesota Renaissance Festival is one of the largest in this region and runs every weekend Labor Day until through the first weekend in Oct. It was amazing. Me and one of my troupe mates got a room near festival, and stayed 2 days during the weekend. For those unfamiliar - Renaissance Festivals feature merchants (pottery, leatherwork, clothing, chain mail, glass art, etc), food (turkey legs are a favorite), and entertainment (music, comedy, jousting, armored combat and, of course, dance) along with a cast of roving characters - kings, queens, wenches, jesters, bards, pirates, etc.... that interact with people. In short - this sort of thing is my jam! It was fun to attend but very very crowded even outdoors and given the world situation with the pandemic, even though I'm vaccinated - I felt a little odd about it. So I waited and even though I feel fine, I got a Covid test because I'd been among so many people - and happily my results were negative. I'm happy my situation allows me to lay low like this so I could be sure I am safe to be around people. And of course, very thankful that I'm alright. Have you ever been to such a fest? Photo: Of me

How fun. This is wonderful. I've always wanted to go to a Renaissance Fair. They have one in the DFW area every year.

Love your costume! Sounds like a fun time. I haven’t, but my grandkids go every year with their parents. Younger son and his girlfriend went to NY for a rave festival or electric something. Due to the crowds, they got tested, too. Negative as well. Glad you are covid free. Can’t be too careful these days.

No. I've seen them on t.v. but never been to one in-person. Not sure if it'd be my type of thing though.

It would be interesting to know how it got its name. As far as we know, the Renaissance was in Europe.

Ah yes, that is the namesake for these festivals... it is a celebration in the style of the European Renaissance - with time period appropriate arts and entertainments. Some liberties are taken - such as there are corn dogs to eat and Pepsi.... ha ha....
