I have always been told that on my mother's side of the family that we have Native American blood and also descendants of a famous American. And I was told by my mother that my paternal grandmother was full blood Native American. My maternal grandmother had a picture of a person that she said was one of her grandmother's and was full blood Native American. As an adult I started researching Genealogy and found that none of my grandmother's upline was Native American and not on the direct upline on my maternal grandfather's side. I also discovered that that the famous American we are related to but very distantly. I also recently discovered that my father's mother apparently was not Native American either. Now my mom won't believe it because she was always told these stories. Have you ever heard family stories and later you found out weren't true?

None that I know of other than one of my relatives from my late dad's side of the family named Francois Viete was one of the founding fathers of Algebra.

@dfollin They're all doing good, or at least as well as can be expected. They hate school, but they're glad to get out of the house now.

One or two. I do enjoy them anyway. Wish I had asked my grandparents, on both sides, more questions about their backgrounds.

Me too! I wish I had known then what to ask and I would of asked my grandmother the name of the woman in the picture. She passed away when I was 9 years old.

Never did any research on my genealogy. I was told that my ancestors came from India. No idea how true this is

Not that I'm aware of. But as I got into my mid to late 20s I found out things about family I never knew before.

I knew very little about our family tree; and my parents didn't talk about our relatives.

My maternal grandfather didn't talk much about his family either. However we did know a few of them and I was able to find out about some of them during my adult years. He passed away when I was 10 years old. He was my favorite person.

Not me but my husband. I don’t know who told him that his maternal grandmother was Japanese. It was cleared by his mom recently. She wasn’t Japanese but Chinese.
