Looks familiar

On a riverside walk I noticed this very smart-looking boat. The design seemed familiar, but for a few seconds I couldn’t place it. But then I remembered - it’s the design that used to be on boxes of Bryant and May matchboxes, but adapted to show the boat’s details. Bryant and May no longer exist (since the 1980s) and it seems the boxes are collector’s items now! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.

@fleura Now I can smell matches being struck. Didn’t know Bryant and May were no longer.

I hadn't realised either. I don't buy matches very often. One of those iconic brands that have disappeared.

I've never seen these types of matches before, but that's a cool boat.

I do think I remember seeing matchboxes that look like that.

I wouldn't mind living in one of these boats. We saw quite a few on our travels and spent five nights on one on the canals in Ireland.

I lived in one for several years, although it was a lot smaller than that one!

@JudyEv I keep meaning to post some boat stories here, but haven't managed it yet.

@Fleura Our son took his double bass on it. We could only get it in through one door and it had a single bed to itself.

I hadn't even really noticed until I looked into it, that those matches don't exist any more.

Boat looks great. Unique style. Haven't heard of Bryant and May matchboxes. The one I remember is the Ship in our country.
