Won't get to read the book I wanted

I went to the library to return a book and also to pick up three books that were on hold for me. While I was there I asked about the book that I had placed on hold a while ago but never received. A Catered Christmas Cookie Exchange by Isis Crawford. I was the only person that had placed it on hold and no one had it checked out so it should've come already.
The librarian searched for it and told that there is no copy available. I am wondering why the book is still listed if there are no copies available. And if there are in fact no copies available why doesn't the book page say so?
Bummer! Now I won't get to read the book. She told me my best bet is to borrow an e-book version. I don't really like to read e-books but if I really wanna read this book I have no choice as I do not want to buy the book.
I've never borrowed e-books from the library before so not sure how that works. I think I have to download the Overdrive app and create an account there. Will have to look into it...

It is supposedly not available at the New York Public Library. But one copy may be available at another library system in NYC. It is not convenient for me though.

Oh that is good you can get an ebook version even if that is not what you want and I can understand that. I would much rather the book too.
What book is it Lena if you do not mind saying?

It's a mystery with recipes called A Catered Christmas Cookie Exchange.

Sorry you can't borrow the book. It should be fairly easy to borrow an e-book. The library can walk you through it.

I may have to resort to that. The Brooklyn Public Library system seems to have a copy. Not convenient for me though to go to that branch to get it.
