Maybe that's a big bowl and those are the size of softballs.

Yes, Maultaschen means - or can mean, roughly, "mouth bag" but there's no exact English equivalent and we'd probably describe them as a kind of ravioli (from the Italian). There seem to be several ideas about the origin of the name (see the Wikipedia article on "Maultasche"). Doubtless, you bought the ones you had, but if you want to know what goes into them (and how to make them). Here's the recipe:
Authentic Homemade Maultaschen recipe just the way you know and love them from Germany! Time saver tips included for convenience!

@DaddyEvil I believe that 'Maul' is used for the mouth or muzzle of an animal, rather than for the human mouth, so 'nose bag' (as in the bag of oats they used to put on horses' noses) could be as good a translation as any ... but who knows? Nobody seems to know where the word 'ravioli' comes from in Italian. Apparently, it might mean 'little turnip' or it might come from a dialect word meaning 'odds and ends'. We've used it in English since the 14th Century, though.

Never heard of it but by the looks it's similar to the Philippine " pancit molo" but with different fillings. I also agree with those who posted that it's similar to ravioli.

@m_audrey6788 dumpling soup is Chinese " wonton soup" or shark's fin soup ( most don't contain shark's fin anymore) and served with noodles we also call " mami"

Those look like ravioli floating in soup. Try looking that up and see if that's right. "Mouth pockets" doesn't sound very appetizing, to me.

Here is something I got from wikipedia: They consist of sheets of pasta dough filled with minced meat, smoked meat, spinach, bread crumbs and onions and flavored with various herbs and spices (e.g. pepper, parsley and nutmeg). Maultaschen are typically 8–12 centimetres (3–4+1/2 inches) across. They are square or rectangular in shape.
