I feel sad for my friend and classmate

She was the brightest in class always standing first all the years. At get togethers that I hosted she would dominate the scene not letting others talk. And today she has lost her memory and her daughter has taken her to live with her in Bangkok. Who can lose one's memory is a mystery.
They talked and talked but no one listened at the beach resort where I had hosted a party for them.

Loss of memory is difficult to get back. Prevention is better than cure.

@sjvg1976 It is one's lifestyle that leads them to memory loss She was so talkative and now all that is missing.

@allknowing maybe with proper medication she regains her memory. Did she lose it in an accident or what?

Dementia and Alzheimers are terrible illnesses. I feel for your friend, my own mother, who just passed a few months ago, suffered from Alzheimers for the last 12 years or so of her life. It made her a very angry and frustrated person.

@Juliaacv That must have been a real blessing as I known of stories how hard it was for family to deal with such situations.

@allknowing My mother's caregivers were kind and compassionate, they never complained when she was cross or when she mixed up their names. They were heaven-sent those workers.

@JimBo452020 Strange actually that you only do not remember a part of your life. Normally one forgets their baby days . I do. I remember how my mother took me for admission to school. I was 5. And also when folks talk about us and that makes us think we remember but that is not the case.

@allknowing It's sad. I have experienced partial memory loss. I can remember nothing of my life between the ages of 8 and 10. It's weird

I have seen some decline really fast. And they cannot recognize even their family members. It is tougher for the caregivers.

It can happen to anyone. My nana ( maternal grandfather) lost his memory around 97 years of age. And he passed away after three months. It was like living with a total stranger in the house. My active and friendly nana was lost in his own world and looked so helpless. He did recognise me one moment and not the other moment. Right now my mother in law is suffering from selective dementia from 2014 after a car accident and brain haemorrhage. It's painful sometimes.
