We have this tree. The fruit is also called egg fruit as it tastes like the yellow of the egg boiled and sweetened. Canistel is loaded with health properties specially the niacin in it helps control the bad cholesterol LDL. Canistel can be eaten and it can also be used to make desserts.

We have a close cousin in my country and it is my favorite fruit. I use it with cream to make fillings for cakes.

I would love to try that but it looks like it isn't sold in my part of the US. It's grown in Florida and is, apparently, too fragile to ship far.

You can eat it with skin and all and if you like the sweetened yellow of the egg it tastes exactly like that

@allknowing A neighbor two blocks from my place, they have this tree with fruits. But never harvest them and let them fall on the road. What a waste.

We call it Chesa but I have not eaten that since my younger years. It just suddenly gone, like we lost supplies of it or maybe not a lot buy it here
