"Mama I want to sleep with you"

I am not talking about your children or grand children but about you. Were you able to sleep without your mother beside you. I slept with my oldest sister as mother had my baby brother to care for.
What put you to sleep. Did mother sing for you?

I'm in my seventies now. As a child we lived in a duplex with a basement where the donkey was kept lived, We had one room on the first floor which was kitchen, dining room and living room and a room on the second floor which was accessed by an outside stairs which was our bedroom. Yes, our bedroom, where my parents slept and my two brothers. We just went to bed and slept. I don't remember anyone singing.

You must have forgotten as most kids are put to sleep by singing lullabies

Nope, I had my own room and my mother would read me a story and then I went to sleep.

@allknowing No, as a matter of fact I had a room on the second floor and my parents were on the first floor.

@allknowing When I was a baby apparently he would sing to me until my eyes closed, then tiptoe to the foot of the stairs, but the moment he put his foot on the first step my eyes would pop open again. He used to tell me this with a laugh and I thought it was a funny story - that was until I had the problem of getting my daughter to sleep and then it wasn't funny any more.

I don't ever remember sleeping with my mum. I shared a bedroom with my sister but that was it.

We were very independent children.
We all slept in our own beds and needed no singing or story telling.
I only slept with Mom when I was a baby when Dad was at sea.

And also as you grew older you must have been told how it was when you were a baby
