Oh, cruise ship, where are you when I need you?

As some of you know, we've had to cancel the last two cruises we had booked. One was at the beginning of the pandemic and the second one was few months ago. We were going on Carnival's newest ship, the Mardi Gras. Carries over 6,000 people and is the largest ship in their fleet. We thought for sure that masks wouldn't be required by next month. But in the middle of one of their first cruises, protocol changed mid voyage and masks were required again. The rules change day by day. We're both vaccinated for Covid, but not sure what will be required by the time we book another trip. Maybe we can go in the spring and hope that conditions will be better by then. I really, really want to go where I'm pampered, waited on, cooked for, have maid service, room service, beautiful beaches, and just relaxing fun. I know @JoyDorsey is cruising soon. Hope you have a ton of fun! Are you the cruising kind? I never thought it would be as cool as it is until our kids talking us into a family cruise and we really enjoyed it. Lots of fun memories. PS Have you heard of the roller coaster on top of the cruise ship that runs out over the ocean? The Mardi Gras has the only one so far, but you will never catch me on it. I hate roller coasters on land and I sure won't be on one that might dump me into the ocean.

No. Cruises are not for us; and now I have limited mobility; and those cruise ships are really big. I wouldn't want to go on that roller coaster either! Good luck scheduling a new trip. I hope you can go soon.

I'm not good on the water. Got seasick the two times I have been.. also cant swim.. but cruises have been something I've been a little interested in off and on. I wouldn't do the coaster on one either

I was okay not getting seasick, but like you, I don't swim and I'm terrified of drowning. We really enjoyed the cruise we went on with our kids and hope we can again if Covid ever settles down.

Cruises don't interest me other then just a little sight-seeing cruise for a couple of hours. I tend to get a little sea sick, I have to wear my wrist bands and keep my eye on the horizon the entire time I am out.

@1creekgirl I do not think that I could handle it, and being so far out at sea as to not see land would upset me also.

Several days might be a little miserable for you!

Are you cancelling because you don't want to wear a mask? I've never been on a cruise and never had any interest in going on one. I just want to go somewhere tropical and park my butt by the water. I don't want to be rushing from here to there every day.

People like different things. Yes, we cancelled because we don't want to wear a mask, but if we're ever going, we might have to put up with it at times.

Some of these cruise ships look amazing, but I didn't know they could carry so many people.

It surprised me how big those ships are.

Have never been on a cruise, or been interested. But I know others enjoy them. I hope you get to go soon.

Thanks, Carol. All these years our kids were going and having fun, but I never really wanted to.
