Bizarre alternative realities!

I have been texting my friend, who is very poorly (normally I hate texting, but since she has hardly any energy this is her preferred method of communication at the moment). The friend has a niece whose name is Florence. And I just found out she has a new nephew, who has been named Oscar. I remarked that the family had not opted for Zebedee (since Florence and Zebedee were both characters in a favourite children’s TV show called ‘The Magic Roundabout’ back in the 1960s/70s), and she replied ‘In fact she is named after my Dad’s favourite city’. For a moment I thought she meant that Oscar was named after her Dad’s favourite city. I thought ‘Oscar is a city? Never heard of that’ and immediately, since I’m sitting at the computer, I Googled ‘Oscar city’ and lo and behold, it came up! There followed a very confusing few seconds as I read that Oscar city is the capital of the Republic of the Cavian State, commonly called Cavia, a constitutional republic on the continent of Canidia on the planet of Animalia.
